WND: Destroy Mecca to Show ‘Our God Is More Powerful’ than Allah
One of the most popular right wing websites in the United States has published an article calling for the destruction of Mecca, the holiest city in Islam, to show that “our God is more powerful” than “their puny deity.”
WorldNetDaily columinst Burt Prelutsky, a former comedy writer, authored the incendiary piece, titled “Bomb Mecca off the Face of the Earth,” in which he asserts that “Muslims have been asking for it for over 1,400 years.”
Prelutsky argues that Islam has been on the warpath ever since its founder, “the cursed Muhammad,” started his “cult of death” in the 7th century A.D. “The religion has been exactly what you would imagine a religion created by a man who was both a pedophile and a butcher would be,” Prelutsky writes.
“Islam was never peaceful,” he continues. “From the very beginning, those who refused to accept Shariah law and to bow down to Mecca were killed.”
“Unlike Christianity which says that we should treat others as we would wish to be treated, to love our neighbors as ourselves and to be our brother’s keeper, Islam’s message is a threat: Convert or perish.” writes Prelutsky, either willfully or innocently ignorant of major historical events such as the Crusades, Spanish Inquisition and Salem witch trials in which horrific atrocities were committed in the name of Christianity.
Prelutsky then offers his own blueprint for dealing with “savage” Muslims:
My own politically incorrect suggestion is that we remove ISIS from the face of the earth, hopefully as a joint effort with every other nation it has threatened or attacked, and that we then bomb Mecca off the face of the earth, not concerning ourselves in the least with collateral damage, letting the Muslims know once and for all that our God is far more powerful and, yes, vengeful than their own puny deity.
Once again, the author is either willfully or innocently ignorant of the fact, agreed upon by most serious Jewish, Christian and Muslim religious scholars, that Jews, Christians and Muslims all believe in the same deity figure, the Old Testament ‘God’ of Moses and Abraham.
“We believe in and confess one God, admittedly, in a different way,” Pope Gregory VII wrote to a Muslim king in 1076. More than 900 years later, Pope John Paul II, addressing an audience of Muslims in Morocco, affirmed that “we believe in the same God, the one God, the living God, the God who created the world and brings his creatures to their perfection.”
Prelutsky isn’t finished:
It’s harsh, but they’ve been asking for it for over 1,400 years, and it’s time they got it. I, for one, am sick and tired of seeing the Islamic bullies demand our lunch money and, like a bunch of scrawny wimps afraid of our own shadow, we hand it over. What’s even more appalling, we then pretend we did it because we’re good guys who realized that they’re human beings just like us, and who just happen to be a little bit hungrier than we are.
The notion that we in the West can re-educate Muslims or show them a better way to live by our example is foolish in the extreme. It’s not just our movies or our music or the fact that we live in a post-ninth century world that they hate. It’s our art, our culture, our technology, our Judeo-Christian values, our tolerance, our treatment of women, even, for all I know, our love of dogs.
The idea that we can civilize these savages is beyond ludicrous. It would be easier to domesticate snakes and raise them for their milk.
Prelutsky’s column appears amid growing Islamophobia and anti-Muslim sentiment following last week’s Paris terror attacks, in which 130 people were killed by Islamist radicals. Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said that if elected he would require registration and perhaps even special IDs for Muslim Americans. Ben Carson, who ranks second among the GOP presidential hopefuls, compared Syrian refugees to dogs, asserting the need to screen out the “rabid dogs” from the good ones. In Rhode Island, Republican state senator Elaine Morgan called Islam a religion of “murder and rape” and said she supported interning Muslim refugees in segregated camps. And Roanoke, Virginia Mayor David Bowers said the internment of Japanese Americans in concentration camps during World War II justifies slamming the door shut on Syrian refugees fleeing a horrific civil war in their homeland.
Calls to bomb Mecca are not new; numerous conservative pundits and politicians have urged the destruction of Islam’s holiest city throughout the years, especially in the wake of the September 11, 2001 al Qaeda terrorist attacks on the United States. William Bradford, a law professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, also advocates the annihilation of Muslim holy sites, “even if it means great destruction, innumerable enemy casualties, and civilian collateral damage.” The US military even taught officers at its Joint Forces Staff College that “the United States is at war with Islam” and that it must wage “total war,” including wiping out “civilian populations wherever necessary” by applying “the historical precedents of Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima [and] Nagasaki“ in order to achieve “Mecca and Medina’s destruction.”
“We have now come to understand that there is no such thing as ‘moderate Islam,’” Lt. Co. Matthew A. Dooley taught in a July 2011 presentation titled ‘A Counter-Jihad Op Design Model.’ “It is therefore time for the United States to make our true intentions clear. This barbaric ideology will no longer be tolerated. Islam must change or we will facilitate its self-destruction.”
WorldNetDaily is no fringe website. Although prone to promoting conspiracy theories, white nationalism and over-the-top and fallacious content (it once claimed that soybeans cause homosexuality), WND is one of the most popular right-wing websites today. According to the website analytics tool Alexa, it is far more popular than other leading conservative sites including Daily Caller, Newsmax, Hot Air and Red State.
