North Brunswick Teacher Cara Conroy Facing 5-10 Years Prison over Alleged Online Sex Chat with Student
Cara Conway, 33, of Kendall Park, South Brunswick was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, the South Brunswick Post reports. Conroy, a special education teacher at North Brunswick High School since 2005, has been suspended without pay.
The Newark Star Ledger reports prosecutors accuse Conroy of engaging in an online conversation about sex acts. According to police, the boy’s mother discovered the illicit communication and notified police. North Brunswick Detective Mike Braun and Middlesex County Investigator Melissa Terpanick investigated the allegations, leading to Conroy’s arrest.
Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew Carey said the boy was not a special education student.
Conroy is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $75,000 bail.
