Tennessee Sheriff’s Deputy Willie Greer Arrested for Allegedly Raping Woman During Traffic Stop
A Tennessee sheriff’s deputy was fired and arrested after he allegedly raped a woman during a routine traffic stop earlier this month.
WRCB reports Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy Willie Marshay Greer, 33, has been charged with aggravated rape and official misconduct after he allegedly forced a woman to perform oral sex on him during a January 5 traffic stop. Greer was immediately terminated and taken to jail last Thursday.
“He was relieved of duty this afternoon,” Sheriff Jim Hammond told WDEF. “CID (criminal investigative department) immediately took him into custody and charged him with aggravated rape. He has been booked into jail. As soon as we were notified by the victim, we did start our CID investigation which very quickly led to this conclusion.”
According to the probable cause affidavit, Greer stopped the woman, who was driving on Birchwood Pike in Harrison, around 1am for speeding. The 32-year-old victim told investigators that Greer handcuffed her and threatened to take her to jail.
“I could let you go, but you’d owe me,” Greer allegedly told her. He then uncuffed her and took her to a secluded area, cuffing her again before allegedly forcing her to perform oral sex on him.
“This is particularly egregious to my officers to know that a fellow officer would break the training, the rules, the regulations, the policy, the procedure, because it is always difficult to hold ourselves in a position where we are careful not to disrespect the public,” Sheriff Hammond said. “I’m afraid that has happened in this case. I’m sad that this happened but we must make sure that these things never exist.”
Greer, who had been a Hamilton County deputy for three months, was released the day after his arrest on a $50,000 bond.
