Ousted ‘Duck Dynasty’ Patriarch Called Gays ‘Evil,’ ‘Heartless’ and ‘Full of Murder’ in 2010 Church Speech

Days after releasing a statement in which he claimed that he would “never treat anyone with disrespect,” suspended Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has appeared in a video in which he calls gays “full of murder,” “heartless” and “evil.”

The video, which was filmed in 2010 as Robertson delivered a 45-minute speech at Berean Bible Church in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, contains footage of Robertson clad in his trademark camouflage, railing against LGBT people.

“First they say, ‘There is no God,'” said Robertson. “Then they bow down to birds, animals, reptiles and each other.” Next comes “gross sexual immorality,” according to the 67-year-old patriarch.

“They will dishonor their bodies with one another. Is that going on in the United States of America? Look around!”

He continues:

“Boy is there some immorality going on around here. Women exchange natural relations and were inflamed with lust for one another. And men were inflamed with lust for each other… They (gays and lesbians) committed indecent acts with one another. And they received in themselves due penalty for their perversion. They’re full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant God haters. They are heartless. They are faithless. They are senseless. They are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil.

The widespread dissemination of the 2010 Robertson speech comes just days after the A&E television network indefinitely suspended him from its most popular program, Duck Dynasty, after he made anti-gay remarks in an interview with GQ magazine. Robertson opined that homosexuality leads to bestiality and that “neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers [nor] the swindlers [will] inherit the Kingdom of God.”

Robertson also offended many black people by claiming African Americans were “happy” during the era of Jim Crow racial segregation, “pre-entitlement, pre-welfare.”

Millions of Christians and conservatives have rallied around Robertson. Bryan Fischer, head of the American Family Association, a Southern Poverty Law Center-designated hate group, tweeted that Robertson is a “new American hero” who “said exactly what the great majority of Americans believe.” Bobby Jindal, the Republican governor of Louisiana, Robertson’s home state and the setting for Duck Dynastycalledthe suspended star a “great citizen of Louisiana.” A Facebook page titled “Boycott A&E Until Phil Robertson is Put Back on Duck Dynasty” has received more than 1.7 million ‘likes’ as of Sunday afternoon.
