A teacher at a Christian elementary school in Tennessee has been charged with three counts of aggravated statutory rape after she allegedly had sex with two underage boys.

The State Gazette reports 37-year-old Beth Scearce of Halls, a third grade teacher at Christ Classical Academy in Dyersburg, was arrested last Thursday following an investigation and booked into the Lauderdale County Jail.

According to police, Scearce had sexual intercourse with two underage males, one of whom told investigators he had sex with the teacher three times last fall.

WMCTV reports Christ Classical Academy released a statement expressing “surprise and shock” at the allegations against Scearce and announcing that she has been “suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.”

If convicted, Scearce could face between 2-12 years in prison.
