Students at a Dallas, Texas high school are coming to the defense of a Spanish teacher who posed nude for Playboy three years ago.

The Dallas Morning News reports 21-year-old Cristy Nicole Deweese, formerly Playboy’s ‘Coed of the Month’ in February, 2011, is now a first-year Spanish teacher at Townview Magnet High School.

It’s her dream job: in a video interview with Playboy recorded back in her coed days, Deweese says she’s “going to be a Spanish teacher” after graduating from college.

It was, of course, only a matter of time before Deweese’s students, half of them being teenage boys with raging hormones and instant access to Internet pornography, discovered her secret. Next came the parents, and many of them were none too pleased that a woman who posed for simulated lesbian sex scenes and a “Naked Outdoors” gallery (Deweese likes to hunt and fish; “I killed me a buck last year,” she boasts in her Playboy interview clip) was teaching their kids how to roll their rr’s and, well, how to conjugate.

“Are her male 16- and 17-year old students looking at her without picturing her nude? For the female students, is this someone they can respect as an educator, someone that they can look up to?” one parent, who wished to remain anonymous, asked the Dallas Morning News.

Which begs the question: Is any male 16- or 17-year old student looking at any attractive female without picturing her nude?

As for respect, Townview students seem to have mucho respeto for Deweese, and they’re showing it as teens do these days– by posting and tweeting about it:

“She’s a teacher now, not a Playboy model anymore! Leave her alone, guys,” tweeted Elida J. Martinez.

The local school district would not discuss Deweese’s case with reporters, but Debbie Ratcliffe, a spokeswoman for the Texas Education Agency, told the Dallas Morning News that it was a “murky situation.”

“It wasn’t an illegal activity, but it raises questions about whether that action violated the Educators’ Code of Ethics,” Ratcliffe said of Deweese’s Playboy modeling.
