A man in central Zambia has been arrested for allegedly raping a chicken, the second Zambian to face such a charge this year.

AllAfrica reports Cephas Mwape, a 20-year-old hammer mill operator from Makululu Township, Kabwe, was arrested earlier this week after being accused of violating the bird at the shop where he works. Nearby residents reportedly heard the distressed chicken causing a commotion and when they went to the shop to investigate they allegedly caught Mwape in the act. The chicken soon died from trauma caused by the sex assault.

Mwape will be charged with bestiality, which falls under Zambia’s unnatural offense act and is punishable by as many as 15 years in prison. He is the second Zambian to face justice for such an act this year; in January, a Chisamba magistrate found Goliath Nyirenda of Mubalani, Chisamba guilty of having ‘carnal knowledge’ with a chicken, which also died from the encounter.
