Fox News Hosts and Michelle Malkin Shocked and Confused by “Very Scary” California Transgender Rights Law

Fox News hosts and pundits, including best-selling author Michelle Malkin, expressed their fear and confusion over California’s landmark transgender student rights law.

The law, signed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday, requires all public schools in the state to allow transgender students to use whatever restrooms and locker rooms they want. Brown, a Democrat, also signed into law a measure allowing transgender students to “participate in sex-segregated programs, activities and facilities” that best match their gender identification, regardless of what anatomical parts they were born with.

This proved quite confusing for the hosts of Fox News Channel’s morning program “Fox and Friends,” as well as for one of their guests, regular Fox News contributor and best-selling author Michelle Malkin.

“I don’t know where to start on this, Michelle, because there seems to be so many questions around this,” host Clay Morris said in a segment titled ‘PC Police.’ “Is this children who consider themselves a different gender and have not gone through some sort of surgery? Is this a child who is conflicted about their sexuality and chooses one day to use the boys’ bathroom as opposed to a girls’?”

“There is such an impetus to pander to political correctness,” Malkin replied. “I think this is social engineering run amok. Apparently according to the bill that was signed, transgender is defined as any way they want to! As long as the child has the self-perception that they are transgender, they will be able to go into any bathroom that they want. Really, I think it’s a usurpation of local, parental and community control.”

Co-host Eric Bolling added that “five-year-olds are now exposed to… ‘What is transgender? Hey mommy… am I transgender?'” Bolling opined that the new law was leading the nation down a “very scary, slippery slope.”

“I just can’t get my head around this,” co-host Gretchen Carlson added.
