New Mexico Teacher Jennifer Vigil Allegedly Coerced Student into Sex Acts
Jennifer Vigil, also known as Jennifer Vigil-Salaz, was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual penetration after the 31-year-old horticultural science teacher at Pojoaque Valley High School in Santa Fe allegedly pressured a male student into letting her perform oral sex on him.
KOAT reports that the student, whose age has not been released, was handing in an assignment after school in March when, according to Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputies, Vigil locked the classroom door and told him, “You’re not leaving until I get something from you.”
The alleged victim told police that he resisted, but he felt that he had no other choice but to submit to his teacher’s demands. He showed deputies a cell phone photo of the sex act.
When interviewed by investigators, Vigil told them that the alleged victim had asked her to have sex with him on two different occasions and that she agreed to the consensual activity. She also told deputies that in addition to oral sex, which the student asked her to perform, the two also had intercourse twice during the month of April.
Vigil, who has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, is being held at the Santa Fe County Detention Center until her arraignment hearing.
