‘Douche du Jour’: University of Arizona Student Dean Saxton’s ‘You Deserve Rape’ Sign Sparks Campus Outrage

A University of Arizona student has raised eyebrows and ire after standing on campus holding a sign that read ‘YOU DESERVE RAPE.’

The Daily Wildcat reports that Dean Saxton, a junior studying classics and religious studies, stood on campus Tuesday wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the message ‘VIRGIN PRIDE’ and holding up several signs.

In addition to ‘YOU DESERVE RAPE,’ Saxton, who is known around the Tucson campus as “Brother Dean,” also had placards reading ‘SORORITY GIRLS ARE WHORES,’ ‘FRAT BOYS ARE THE RAPISTS’ and ‘RAPISTS DESERVE THE DEATH PENALTY.’

“Most girls on this campus are asking to be raped,” Saxton says as he holds up his sign in a video posted on YouTube.

“You deserve to be raped,” he tells one young woman as she walks by. Apparently dressing in shorts and halter tops in the scorching Arizona desert is enough to warrant rape in Saxton’s eyes.

“You’re asking for it when you wear sex shorts, short-shorts,” he hollers.

“You’re disgusting,” he spats at another young woman. “God’s going to vomit you out on Judgment Day.”

“Are you having pre-marital sex?” Saxton asks yet another young woman, who applies in the affirmative.

“Then you’re a ho,” the zany zealot shoots back.

“That says whore,” the young woman retorts, pointing to the sign proclaiming ‘SORORITY GIRLS ARE WHORES.’

“Okay, whore,” Saxton ‘concedes.’ “I wasn’t sure if you listen to gangsta rap,” he says.

At one point, just for good measure, Saxton shouts, “All Muslims are pedophiles!”

Some students decided to make signs of their own and stand near Saxton as he raged on with his rape rant.

‘NOBODY DESERVES RAPE,’ one placard read. ‘YOU DESERVE GRAPE,’ said another.

When irate students attempt to snatch Saxton’s offensive sign away from him, he cites his free speech rights. And despite the flood of complaints about Saxton’s signs and sermons, the Dean of Students Office is standing behind his First Amendment rights.

“We find it to be vulgar and vile,” Interim Dean of Students Kendal Washington White told the Daily Wildcat. “However, it is protected speech. He has yet to, at this point, violate the student code of conduct.”

“Brother Dean’s” latest sermon came just hours before a “Take Back the Night” campus protest against sexual violence. Students involved in that event condemned Saxton’s hateful messages.

“No one deserves to be raped,” one student said.

Saxton told the Daily Wildcat that he does what he does because he “was looking for a way to be on fire for God.”

“Jesus commanded us to preach, therefore the Christians should be willing to preach Christ’s message as well,” he added.

But some of what Saxton preaches has nothing to do with Jesus’ teachings. While Christ never said anything about homosexuality, “Brother Dean” has been seen preaching that “all you homos are going to hell.” So too, he says, are “masturbators.”

Apparently “Brother Dean” does this sort of thing on the regular. But as the Daily Wildcat points out, perhaps he’d do well to heed the scriptural wisdom of Ephesians 4:32– “Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgive one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

The employees of the University of Arizona who have been offended by the discriminatory/harassing behavior of Dean Saxton should immediately file a class action complaint with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), US Dept. of Labor:
and/or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) at:

Yes! Yes! Take away his rights to free speech! That is the best way to solve this.

Let’s face it, the guy is an idiot. He does not represent Christ and people need to ignore him.
