A Republican US congressman from Texas is promoting a ‘pro-life’ political bumper sticker that suggests arming fetuses would prevent abortions.

Rep. Steve Stockman, who represents portions of southeastern Texas, tweeted on Thursday that his campaign had come up with a catchy new slogan sure to resonate with his base:

“Our campaign bumper sticker: If babies had guns, they wouldn’t be aborted,” Stockman tweeted, along with an image of a bumper sticker with the slogan admonishing Texans to “Vote Pro-Life!”

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s warning that his Republicans needed to “stop being the stupid party” has clearly not been heard by everyone in the GOP.

Rep. Stockman, who previously served a term in the House of Representatives in the 1990s, has only been in office since January. But he’s already raised eyebrows and ire with his controversial and sometimes bigoted statements.

He voted against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

“This is truly a bad bill,” Stockman said of the measure that provides federal funding for programs that aid the prosecution of domestic and sexual violence cases. “This is helping the liberals, this is horrible. Unbelievable. What really bothers– it’s called a women’s act, but they they have men dressed up as women, they count that. Change-gender, or whatever. How is that a woman?” he said, referring to historic protections for transgender women and other LGBT Americans included in the bill.

Stockman once also tweeted that “the best thing about the Earth is that if you poke holes in it, oil and gas come out.”

He also threatened to impeach President Barack Obama if the administration proceeded with implementing gun control through executive action.

“I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” Stockman said in January.

For the record, the fiercely ‘pro-life’ Stockman is also a staunch supporter of the death penalty.

If conservatives had a brain, they wouldn’t know what to do with it.

I’ve yet to see a baby being born with a gun, as much as I’ve seen a religious theist supplying evidence in support of a claim
