Ex-Virginia School Security Worker Patience Perez Accused of Plotting with 15-Year-Old Student Lover to Murder Husband
Patience Perez, 22, recently a school security assistant at Virginia Beach Renaissance Academy, was arrested and charged on Tuesday with conspiring with a 15-year-old student to kill her husband. According to police, Perez, who has two children, had a consensual sexual relationship with the boy that occurred off school grounds. She has also been charged with taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial supervisory relationship and using a communications system to facilitate crimes against a child.
According to police, Perez took the boy to her home on multiple occasions in February, where the couple had sex. She is also accused of exchanging pornographic images with the boy via text messaging.
Norfolk Police spokeswoman Karen Parker-Clesson told reporters that Perez and her teen lover had at least one conversation about killing her husband, who has not been named but who is on active duty in the US Navy. The boy has not been charged in connection with the alleged murder plot.
According to WTKR, Perez lives in a military housing complex in the Willoughby Bay Community near Naval Station Norfolk.
Renaissance Academy is an alternative public school serving students in grades 6-12, many of them at-risk youth. Perez was a temporary hire, working at the school since last August 22 and terminated on March 5, a day after staff notified authorities of her “inappropriate contact” with the teen.
Perez is being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond. A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for April 10.
