California Mom Samantha Delvalle and Boyfriend Arrested after 2-Year-Old Son Gets Drunk and High on Meth
A California mother and her boyfriend have been arrested and charged with child endangerment after the woman’s 2-year-old son was hospitalized with dangerous levels of alcohol and methamphetamine in his blood.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports that 22-year-old Samantha Delvalle and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Raymond Maybery, were arrested on Thursday night at their home in Philo, Mendocino County.
CBS Bay Area reports that Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies first received a call from Ukiah Valley Medical Center, where the toddler’s grandmother had taken him after noticing he looked ill at his mother’s house. The grandmother smelled alcohol on the child and decided to rush him to the hospital.
The Press Democrat reports that the boy had “life-threatening” amounts of alcohol in his body and was high on methamphetamine. Hospital staff then notified police of the suspected child abuse.
When deputies arrived at the child’s Philo home, they allegedly found Delvalle and Maybery drunk and high on drugs. Deputies searching the home saw open bottles of alcohol and drug paraphernalia, all of which were in reach of a child.
The case is being investigated by child protective services staff. The toddler has been placed in the custody of his biological father.
Delvalle and Maybery were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug intoxication. They are locked up in the Mendocino County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
