Married Lesbians Arielle and Shawnee McPhail Handed Homophobic Letter by North Carolina Restaurant Owner

Arielle and Shawnee McPhailA lesbian couple dining in a North Carolina restaurant were handed a letter condemning homosexuality as they left the building.

Arielle and Shawnee McPhail had just finished dining at the Stingray Cafe in New Bern on December 4 when owner Ed McGovern handed them a letter. It read:

“God said in the last days that man and women (sic) would have unnataurl (sic) effection (sic) for one another. Then the comming (sic) of the son of man who is Jesus. So please look at your life see how it hurt (sic) every one (sic) around your (sic). And ask the Lord to open your eye (sic). Before it to (sic) late. The love of Christ. P.S. My daugther also was gay. It destroy (sic) her life and my grandson.”

WCTI contacted McGovern, who confirmed that he indeed passed the letter to the couple, as well as another lesbian couple in the past. The restaurant owner said he objected to the McPhails kissing outside his restaurant, something they denied doing.

“First of all, we didn’t kiss. We don’t kiss in public. We were holding hands,” Shawnee told WCTI. “Secondly, if I did kiss my wife in public, what married couple would you go to and say, ‘How dare you, you cannot hold hands and you cannot kiss in public therefore you deserve my judgment.'”

McGovern insisted that he wrote the letter “out of love.”

Yelpers have been showing their “love” for McGovern by posting 1-star reviews— the lowest possible– on the popular review site. Some reviews ironically noted that the Stingray Cafe serves shellfish, the eating of which is considered an abomination by the same part of the Old Testament that condemns homosexuality.

The McPhails tied the knot in Washington, DC which, along with eight states, has legalized same-sex marriage. But they live in North Carolina, where such unions are prohibited under a state constitutional amendment approved by voters last year.

Married in DC. No doubt activists spoiling for a fight. I’ve watched Dem’s indoctrinate people for longer than these 2 have been alive. If we can just brainwash enough people to become queer, we can create a new voting block to replace all those whites we have totally alienated w/ unconstitutional hate crimes.

People aren’t “brainwashed” into “becoming queer.” They are born that way.

To drs1969 : what…? Being gay has nothing to do with ‘Dems’, brainwashing, or voting, whatsoever.

It’s truly bizarre that some people think it’s just ‘a choice’. That’s like saying ‘I believe you CHOSE to be white’. ‘I believe you CHOSE to be latino’. ‘I believe you CHOSE to be left-handed’.

Homosexuality is present among ALL PRIMATES. And most other species on earth. It’s not a choice ; it is simple natural biology.

I really cannot stress enough, how it’s not a choice, and there is no way to change which gender you are attracted to. I’m sure if you lived about 2 seconds as a gay person, you would see and feel that immediately and go…’woah, I was stupidly wrong’. To think that you are more of an expert on someone else’s sexuality, and that you know what they like better than they do, and why, is just flat-out ridiculous.

I still just cannot believe how people don’t understand this. There is NO way to completely reverse someone’s sexuality, and to be honest, Christians who keep insisting it is are absolutely deluding themselves.

The idea of the “gay gene” is very much up for debate and has been debunked by many qualified scientists. People that are supposedly born homosexual can change. They can somehow become heterosexual. I know it’s unbelievable but it happens!! People with diabetes can’t change and neither can people with down syndrome. If homosexuality were genetic wouldn’t changing be impossible?
