Married South Carolina Teacher Kinsley Wentzky Accused of Having Sex with Underage Student
A married South Carolina high school teacher has been arrested and charged with engaging in a sexual relationship with an underage student.
Columbia police (CPD) charged 34-year-old Kinsley Wentzky of Forest Acres with sexual battery of a student 16 or 17 years of age with no aggravated force or coercion.
Wentzky, an English teacher at Dreher High School in Columbia, allegedly had multiple sexual encounters with a 17-year-old male student at a Columbia home. CPD launched an investigation of the teacher, who is married with two children, after obtaining victim information in partnership with the Forest Acres Police Department.
FAPD also confirmed that it is investigating Wentzky.
Wentzky’s current status with Richmond County School District One is not known.
The teacher was booked on Friday. A judge has issued a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
According to South Carolina Code of Law 16-3-755, Section B:
“If a person affiliated with a public or private secondary school in an official capacity engages in sexual battery with a student enrolled in the school who is sixteen or seventeen years of age, and aggravated coercion or aggravated force is not used to accomplish the sexual battery, the person affiliated with the public or private secondary school in an official capacity is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be imprisoned for not more than five years.”
