Idaho Vice Principal Tara Leigh Bagley Accused of Sexually Abusing Girls, Ages 16 & 17
Tara Leigh Bagley, 41, vice principal of Burley High School in Burley, is being extradited from Utah to stand trial for allegedly abusing two girls, ages 16 and 17. Bagley faces seven counts of felony sexual abuse of a minor child 16 to 17 years old. She was arrested last Friday in Hurricane City, Utah and is being held in the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center on $250,000 bond.
The details of the charges against Bagley remain unclear, as her case is sealed by the 5th District Court.
Cassia County School District Superintendent Gaylen Smyer told reporters that Bagley was hired by the district in 2004. Smyer would not say whether or not Bagley had been placed on administrative leave.
“I’m bound by the law and I can’t divulge anything like that,” Smyer said. “The law is very specific about personnel matters and I’m bound by that code.”
The alleged abuse occurred between July 2011 and December 2012 in Cassia County. According to the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office, the abuse did not occur on school grounds.
