Von I. Meyer Arrested after Alleged Indiana School Massacre Threat; Police Find 47 Guns and $100,000 in Ammo
An Indiana man with 47 guns and a large amount of ammunition in his home was arrested after allegedly threatening to massacre people at a local elementary school.
The Associated Press reports that 60-year-old Von I. Meyer of Cedar Lake was arrested on Friday after he allegedly threatened to set his wife on fire. Local police accuse Meyer of threatening to “kill as many people as he could” at nearby Jane Ball Elementary School.
Police recovered 47 guns and a massive cache of ammunition worth more than $100,000. Meyer, who the Chicago Tribune reports is a member of a motorcycle gang, has been charged with felony intimidation, domestic battery and resisting arrest.
Meyer’s arrest came on the same day that 20-year-old Adam Lanza went on a shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Lanza killed 28 people, including 20 children, during the massacre.
