Chinese Woman Jiao Xinzhen Breastfeeds Monkeys
The wife of a Chinese monkey trainer helps care for his simian students by breastfeeding the animals, which she says are “just like her children.”
Jiao Xinzhen, 27, helps care for the primates at husband Huang Aiqing’s monkey training school in Nanyang, Henan province. Huang’s monkeys are used in theaters, movies and circuses throughout China, and Jiao believes her unique feeding method is largely responsible for their success.
“In this house, the monkeys are king,” Huang, 34, told the Sun.
“Many times, some of the baby monkeys slip into our bed at night and suck my breasts,” Jiao said, adding that the animals are “just like my children.”
Jiao has even adopted one of the monkeys as a sort of second child and brother for their young human son.
“When I see him playing with my son I can see how close we are to them and they are to us and I’m pleased my boy has such a good playmate,” she told the Sun.
The Hufffington Post points out that this isn’t the first story involving a woman breastfeeding animals. Terri Graham, a 44-year-old California mother of two who was unable to breastfeed her own children took to suckling her 9-year-old daughter’s dog, a pug named Spider.
“I finally feel complete and a better mother,” Graham said.
