A survey conducted by a popular American travel magazine ranks the nation’s cities with the most– and least– beautiful people.

Travel + Leisure’s annual “America’s Favorite Cities” reader poll includes a “Most and Least Attractive People” category. In addition to natural good (or bad) looks, survey respondents rated residents’ fashion sense, aloofness and accents. These are all pretty subjective, of course, and some of the cities that made it onto the ‘best’ or ‘worst’ looking lists may leave readers scratching their heads. For example, Providence, Rhode Island and Kansas City made it into the 20 best looking cities, while Las Vegas and Phoenix/Scottsdale are ranked in the bottom 20.

So, which cities fared the best and worst in this year’s survey? Unsurprisingly, Sunbelt cities fared extremely well, taking the top nine spots. Miami, with its sizzling Latin and Caribbean flavor, has the nation’s hottest people, according to T + L readers. Sunny San Diego, with its fit, tan denizens, came in second. San Juan, Puerto Rico finished third.

At the other end of the beauty spectrum, Anchorage, Alaska was voted the city with the worst-looking people. Baltimore and Philadelphia rounded out the bottom three.

Here are the 35 cities ranked in the T + L poll (click on any photo to enlarge):
