CBS Reporter Lara Logan Calls for “Revenge” Attack on Libya; Says Obama “Lies” about Taliban
A CBS correspondent who was sexually assaulted while covering Egypt’s ‘Arab Spring’ revolution last February has raised eyebrows in the journalism world by stepping outside her role as an objective reporter to call for an escalation of the War on Terror.
Lara Logan, a 41-year-old South African native who appears on CBS News and “60 Minutes,” made headlines last February after she was brutally beaten and sexually assaulted by an Egyptian mob during frenzied celebrations in Cairo’s Tahrir Square following the resignation of longtime US-backed dictator Hosni Mubarak.
Logan is back in the headlines after a speech to 1,100 people gathered at the Better Government Association’s annual luncheon in Chicago last Tuesday. She lashed out at the Obama administration, accusing it of lying about the strength of the Taliban in Afghanistan, and called for revenge attacks against the Libyan terrorists responsible for the killing of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, at the US consulate in Benghazi last month.
“I can’t stand that there is a major lie being propagated,” Logan said, referring to the notion that the US is winning the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan.
“There is this narrative coming out of Washington for the last two years” driven, in part, by “Taliban apologists” who say “they are just the poor, moderate, gentler, kinder Taliban. It’s such nonsense!”
Logan also called upon the United States to “exact revenge” against the Islamic militants responsible for the Americans’ deaths in Libya. The US should “let the world know that the United States will not be attacked on its own soil– that its ambassadors will not be murdered, and that the United States will not stand by and do nothing about it.”
She said she “hopes to God” that the US will “exact revenge” against the perpetrators of the Benghazi attacks.
