“Mitt Romney Style” “Gangnam Style” Parody Video Skewers Romney, Ryan
A parody music video based on Korean rapper Psy’s global mega-hit “Gangnam Style” skewers Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan.
Produced by the comedy site CollegeHumor and starring Matt Walton as Romney and Brandon Sornberger as Ryan, “Mitt Romney Style” has been making the ‘net rounds since appearing online this morning. The video roughly copies Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” which has received more than 347 million views on YouTube since recently going viral.
Like “Gangnam Style,” “Romney Style” pokes fun at the conspicuous consumption of the video’s subjects. “I got a horse in the Olympics but I don’t even watch ‘em/ In and out of tax loopholes ’cause I’m so f—-n’ awesome,” Mitt sings in the opening lines of the video.
And then, this chorus: “Affluent, extravagant, that’s Mitt, hey! Yeah, that’s so Mitt, hey! You should elect me, ’cause I got so much money!”
Paul Ryan gets a cameo about halfway through the video. “Yo I’m the vee-pee nominee and yo budget I be cuttin’/ I got the eyes and the body so you know I’m struttin’/ I’ll cut ya social safety net, you losers ain’t got nothin’.”
