‘American Idiots’: Texas Teen Keithan Manuel Arrested for Trying to Rob Officer INSIDE Police Station

Keithan Manuel says he was only joking, but he’s in serious trouble after attempting to commit what could quite possibly be the dumbest crime of the century.

CBS Dallas/Ft. Worth reports that the 18-year-old teen strolled into the Wilmer, Texas police station Saturday evening with a towel over his hands. According to Chief Victor Kemp:

“Yeah, well, a young man walked into the lobby and approached the dispatch window there and told our communications officer ‘give me all your money.’”

Perhaps Manuel realized the colossal stupidity of his action, for he quickly changed his story and said he was there to “check on a warrant.”

“You do know I have a gun,” he then inexplicably said.

“At that point he seemed to be very serious,” Kemp told CBS.

The communications officer then called for backup.

“She called for officers immediately and called for backup from another agency,” Kemp told CBS. “The officers arrived and were able to take him down at gunpoint.”

It turns out Manuel didn’t have a gun. He claims he never said that he did, but the world’s dumbest criminal (for today, at least) incriminated himself in his statement to CBS. Check this out:

“I didn’t say nothing like that, I swear to God I didn’t say nothing like that; that’s why they didn’t find no guns on me. Man, I play like that all the time, I didn’t think she would take it seriously.”

Doh!

Manuel is being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $200,000 bond for multiple charges, including robbery.

“This young man wasn’t using his head for sure,” Kemp told CBS. “You hear of those world’s dumbest criminals every once in a while but you never think it’s gonna happen in your city.”
