Move Over, Octomom– Get Ready for the Nonomom: Mexican Karla Vanessa Perez Set to Give Birth to NINE Babies Next Month
A Mexican woman already being called the ‘Nonomom’ is set to give birth to nonuplets– nine babies– next month. If they all survive, she’ll hold the world record for the biggest brood.
MailOnline reports that Karla Vanessa Perez of Coahuila state is expecting six girls and three boys to make their world debut on May 20. Incredibly, Perez already has triplets. It is reported that the multiple pregnancy is the result of fertility treatment with her husband Bernardo.
Perez is being treated at a hospital in the state capital of Saltillo, southwest of Monterrey and about 186 miles southwest of Laredo, Texas.
Perez told Mexican reporters that it was too early to be thinking about names for her babies.
“First I hope that everything goes well” with the delivery, she said.
MailOnline points out that Perez will be the world’s first Nonomom if all goes well. Geraldine Brodrick, an Australian, gave birth to nine babies in 1971 but none lived longer than six days. Malaysian Zurina Mat Saad also lost all nine of her babies within hours of their March 26, 1999 birth.
The current world record holder for most babies born in a single delivery is American Nadya Suleman, better known as the Octomom, who gave birth to octuplets in January, 2009. Suleman has a total of 14 children.
Incredibly, the Guinness Book of World Records tells of a 17th-century Russian woman who birthed a total of 69 children in 27 pregnancies; 16 pairs of twins, 7 sets of triplets and four sets of quadruplets.
