Video: Brazil Beachgoers Rescue 30 Beached Dolphins in Rio de Janeiro

Incredible video shot by a German tourist captures the amazing rescue of 30 beached dolphins in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro state.

In the video, which was shot on Monday morning in Arraial do Cabo, a pod of dolphins appears out of nowhere, coming dangerously close to the shoreline after being trapped by a strong current. The distressed animals realize they’re beached, and before long a crowd of around a dozen beachgoers comes to their rescue, daringly dragging the creatures back into the surf by their tails. As the dolphins are safely returned to the sea, a crowd of onlookers cheers the intrepid and impromptu rescue mission.

This YouTube video of the dolphin rescue has received more than a million views:

Happy to watch the video and remembering that in Denmark and Japan the dolphins are not so luck.
