NYPD Lies: ‘The Third Jihad,’ Rabidly Anti-Muslim Film, Shown on “Continuous Loop” for up to 1 Year in Anti-Terror Training

A year ago, we brought you the story of The Third Jihad, a rabidly anti-Muslim film that the Village Voice discovered was being screened for New York Police Department officers as part of their anti-terrorism training. The Village Voice described the hateful documentary as  “72 minutes of gruesome footage of bombing carnage, frenzied crowds, burning American flags, flaming churches, and seething mullahs.” The film emphasizes that most Muslims are extremists, bent on a complete takeover of the United States as the culmination of their 1,400 year quest for global domination. “Americans are being told that most of the mainstream Muslim groups are moderate,” the narrator, a “reformed” Muslim says, “when in fact if you look a little closer you’ll see a very different reality. One of their primary tactics is deception.” Images from the film include Christians shot in the head by Muslim terrorists, exploding car bombs, executed children and an Islamic flag hanging over the White House.

When news that the Islamophobic film was being used to train NYPD officers, the department first denied it. Then it said the film had been mistakenly screened “a couple of times” for a handful of officers.

The NYPD was lying through its teeth.

According to the New York Times, Police documents obtained under New York’s Freedom of Information Law reveal that the film, which contains an interview with NYPD Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, was shown “on a continuous loop” for as long as a year of training, during which time 1,489 NYPD officers saw it.

It was a group of concerned NYPD officers, at least one of whom is a Muslim, who turned whistle-blowers after watching the disturbing film.

The Third Jihad was paid for by the Clarion Fund, which describes itself as “a non-profit organization that produces and distributes documentaries on the threats of Radical Islam.” The group’s board includes a former CIA official as well as a former deputy defense secretary for President Reagan. Sheldon Adelson, a Zionist casino mogul who has donated millions of dollars to a super PAC backing GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich, is also a strong supporter.

This is but the latest controversy to embroil the NYPD in regards to its relations with the city’s large Muslim population. Recently, revelations that the department has engaged in widespread spying on Muslims, even when no crimes are suspected and often in concert with the CIA, have strained relations with the Muslim community.
