‘Family Feud’ Fiasco: Things a Pilot Holds on a Long Flight– Survey Says… His Schlong!

When right-wing reactionaries lament the fraying of America’s moral fiber, moments like these might be what they’re all riled up about…

On last night’s episode of Fox’s game show Family Feud, contestants were asked to identify “things a pilot holds on a long flight.” For those not familiar with the program’s format, 100 people not appearing on the show say what they think the best answer to a question is. The results of that survey form the answers which contestants must guess; the more popular the answer, the more points the contestant receives.

So, what are some things a pilot holds on a long flight? Well, there’s the flight controls or, more cleverly, his bladder. This must’ve been a particularly tough question, because when both teams ran out of answers host Steve Harvey revealed the remaining survey responses, read aloud along with the studio audience.

Occupying the final survey spot was… his schlong!  Three– count ‘em, three– different survey respondents gave that sophomoric answer, making it the sixth most popular response. One of the contestants, a grandmother named Marion, was visibly taken aback by the PG-13 answer. But watching a full studio audience shout those words was nothing less than pure TV gold. Family Feud sure has changed since the show’s 1970s- 1980s hey day when Richard Dawkins helmed the program!

The Huffington Post reports that this sort of decidedly adult answer (so much for the “family” in the Family Feud) is not without precedent on the program. Last month, a preacher’s wife named Magen (incorrectly) answered the question “Tell me something you put in your mouth but don’t swallow” with “semen.”  And earlier last year, another contestant answered “Name something that gets passed around” with “a joint.”

But this time appears to be the first when the naughty response was actually part of the survey answers. Here’s the hilarious clip from Monday’s show:
