Chinese Woman Mee Yan Leong Sits on Toilet for Two-and-a-Half Years
A Chinese woman is speaking out after sitting on a toilet seat for two-and-a-half years.
According to Mail Online, 58-year-old Mee Yan Leong sat down on her toilet on March 25, 2009. She remained there for the next 902 days, naked, eating and sleeping there and only getting up to wash about 18 times.
Leong said she “felt a force” holding her down, although she couldn’t explain why she felt compelled to remain stuck to the seat for so long. Husband Kian Ann Ong says she was terrified that people would pelt her with stones or spray her with water if she left the bathroom. Ong says that throughout the whole ordeal his wife wouldn’t speak to anyone but him, not even their 27-year-old son Jing Yih.
Yih, a freelance journalist, told the New Paper:
“My mum and I have similar personalities. We’re both very straightforward and would frequently get into arguments. When she got into that state, her emotions became even more unstable, so I tried to avoid possible confrontations which could lead to blow ups.”
Eventually, Leong was forced to leave her sanctuary due to a medical emergency. “They had to come into my flat, hold her down, then wrap her in a towel before using a wheelchair to take her to the hospital,” Ong is quoted in Mail Online.
Ong confessed that he considered leaving his wife during the trying and bizarre ordeal, but later decided against it.
