Snooping Drug Dog Leads to Snoop Dogg Marijuana Arrest at Same Texas Border Patrol Checkpoint where Willie Nelson was Busted in 2010

Rap superstar Snoop Dogg was arrested for marijuana possession at the same Texas border patrol checkpoint where country music legend Willie Nelson was busted for the same offense back in 2010.

TMZ  reports that Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr., was riding in his tour bus when it stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Hudspeth County, which lies some 88 miles (142 km) east of El Paso.

A drug-sniffing police dog reportedly found a red prescription bottle filled with joints containing less than a half an ounce (14 grams) of the old sticky-icky-icky in a trash bin on Snoop’s bus.

Officials say that the 40-year-old rapper took responsibility for the contraband.

Although Snoop is the proud holder of a California state medical cannabis card, the good folks in Texas aren’t as tolerant when it comes to marijuana use. According to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), possession of two ounces (56.7 grams) or less of marijuana is a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.

Snoop was issued a misdemeanor citation for drug possession and released. He can pay a $537 fine and it will all go away, TMZ reports.

Ironically, Snoop slammed Texas police back in 2010 over the arrest of country music icon Willie Nelson, who was busted at the exact same border patrol checkpoint for exactly the same offense.

“Man, they better leave Willie the fuck alone,” Snoop fumed upon hearing the news of Nelson’s arrest. “Willie Nelson is a legend.”

As it was, Nelson got off for song– literally.  Hudspeth County Attorney Kit Bramblett, a huge fan, was ready and willing to strike a deal with his idol. “I’m gonna let him plead, pay a small fine and he’s gotta sing “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” with his guitar right there in the courtroom,” Bramblett told the Big Bend Sentinel. “You bet your ass I ain’t gonna be mean to Willie Nelson.” “Willie Nelson is 77 years old and I’m 78,” he added. “He’s been my favorite artist all my life. We all knows he smokes a little pot.”
