‘Douche du Jour’: Yasmin Chaudhry, Norwegian Mom, Drowns Baby Daughter in Bucket of Water while Boyfriend Watches on Skype
A Norwegian woman has been arrested after she drowned her baby daughter in a bucket of water while her British boyfriend watched over the internet.
According to the MailOnline, 26-year-old Yasmin Chaudhry wanted to discipline her one-year-old daughter for waking up and disobeying her while she chatted with her unnamed British boyfriend on Skype at 3am one morning last October. Chaudhry’s boyfriend allegedly suggested dunking the baby in water to shut her up. She did so while he watched; but before too long Chaudhry realized that something was terribly wrong.
She called for an ambulance, telling paramedics that the baby had fallen into the bucket by accident. The child was unconscious when paramedics arrived and died the following day.
Chaudhry was arrested, first on suspicion of negligence. She now faces murder charges.
“This has been a long investigation and she eventually admitted it to us in October 2011,” Norwegian police prosecutor Kristin Rusdal told MailOnline. “She said it was done to discipline the child. She had been holding her under water. She had discussed the discipline with this friend, with whom she had a relationship. They met online and had met in person only once.”
A preliminary murder charge has also been filed against the unnamed boyfriend, who was questioned by Norwegian police in Britain with the assistance of Scotland Yard.
Chaudhry’s five-year-old son has been taken into state custody following her arrest. His father, who lives in Pakistan after breaking up with Chaudhry, is said to be “very shocked.”
