Arun Sandhukha, Indian Man, Dies After Rats Bite off Penis in Kolkata Hospital

An Indian man has died after rats chewed off his penis in a Kolkata hospital.

Asian Age reports that 53-year-old Arun Sandhukha from Sreerampore, Hooghly was being treated for pneumonia at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata when he met his untimely and gruesome demise. Visiting family members found Sandhukha lying in a pool of his own blood.

“No nurse was found at the scene and he was writhing in pain. His penis had been nibbled by rats,” a relative told Asian Age, adding that hospital officials admitted they knew their facility had a rat problem.

This has been a bad year for rat-bitten penises. In January, Peter Solomon, a Vietnam veteran in his 50s who was serving time in a New York jail for menacing his wife was bitten in the hand and penis by a jailhouse rat of the four-legged variety. Solomon had to undergo a painful course of rabies shot; a federal judge ruled that he could sue jail officials.
