Visalia, Ca. Special Ed Teacher Lianne Marie Trout Arrested for Sex with Student
A California special education teacher has been arrested for having sex with a 16-year-old student.
According to KSEE 24, Lianne Marie Trout, age 27, who teaches at Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia, was arrested for “unlawful sex with a minor and oral copulation.” Visalia police say she faces multiple charges. The alleged victim is a former student.
“I think teachers, government workers anyone that has the public trust is responsible,” Visalia Police Chief Colleen Mestas told KSEE 24. “That why we take these matters very seriously.”
“What’s going on with these teachers minds when they’re doing these things? These are students, children. They’re sick,” Elizabeth Tidwell, whose special needs daughter is in Trout’s class, told KSEE 24.
Gabe Caldwell, a freshman at Mt. Whitney, told KSEE 24 that “it makes me feel uncomfortable around other teachers and thinking about what that teacher did. It affects my relationship with other teachers.”
Trout, who was booked into the Bob Wiley Detention Center, is now out on bail.
Visalia police urge any other victims to contact them.
