A Texas gun safety instructor has come under fire for his policy of refusing to teach liberals or Muslims.
According to the Huffington Post, Crockett Keller, proprietor of the Riverside Store in Mason, may lose his state-granted permission to teach concealed handgun safety classes because he won’t accept students who are Muslims or who voted for President Obama.
“If you are a socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner-in-chief, please do not take this class,” Keller says in a radio advertisement. ”You have already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as required under the law.”
“Also, if you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you the class. Once again, with no shame; I am Crockett Keller … thank you and God bless America,” he adds.
Keller says he’s just exercising his rights as an instructor. ”I call it exercising my right to choose who I instruct in how to use a dangerous weapon,” he told KVUE. ”The fact is if you are a devout Muslim then you cannot be a true American. ”Why should I arm these people to kill me? That’s suicide.”
Keller has been flooded with supportive messages since his ad aired on Mason’s local radio station. But his discriminatory business practices could cost him dearly. The Texas Department of Public Safety, which certifies concealed carry instructors, is investigating the bigoted teacher.
“The department became aware of the statements in question yesterday and has begun an investigation into the matter,” a prepared statement said. “The department will take appropriate administrative action based on the findings from the investigation.”
