Obama Bans Human Rights Violators from Entering U.S.– His Greatest Act of Delusional Hypocrisy Yet
President Barack Obama has just issued a proclamation, the Presidential Directive on Mass Atrocities, that “bars entry into the United States of persons who organize or participate in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and serious violations of human rights.” “The United States has long sought to ensure that our country does not become a safe haven for human rights violators or those responsible for other atrocities,” the directive reads.
Has Obama completely lost his mind?
It just so happens that I am writing a book about this very subject. I could literally go on for hours proving what an monumental liar and hypocrite Obama is, but for the sake of expediency, here’s a greatly abridged list of human rights violators, terrorists and other ne’er-do-wells who live or are welcome in the United States or who the Obama administration enables, works with or downright embraces:
*Bahrain: As Obama delivered his rousing speech on the Middle East during the 2011 ‘Arab Spring,’ vowing to “stand squarely on the side of those who are reaching for their rights,” Bahraini security forces were slaughtering their own citizens who were demonstrating for greater freedom, torturing medical professionals who treated the protesters, torturing schoolgirls as young as 12 and forcing prisoners to eat their own excrement. In the midst of all this, Obama welcomed Bahraini Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa to the White House, where Obama reaffirmed the importance of Bahrain as U.S. ally. That’s because Bahrain has oil, is friendly toward the U.S. and hosts the U.S. Navy Fifth fleet. So Bahrain gets a free pass on its human rights violations while Libya gets bombed for theirs.
*Saudi Arabia: One of the most repressive regimes in the world, run by Islamic fundamentalists. Arbitrary arrests and torture of reform advocates, religious minorities or totally innocent people are commonplace. The Saudi legal system is a cruel farce, with defendants denied legal counsel and tortured into making false confessions, resulting in many people being unfairly executed, often by public beheading. Among the “crimes” that have resulted in executions are apostasy– renouncing Islam–, blasphemy, prostitution, witchcraft, homosexuality and adultery. Those who are executed are sometimes crucified as well. Lesser criminals often have their hands chopped off without anesthesia. Women in the kingdom cannot vote or even drive. They are forbidden to be treated in a hospital or travel without written permission from their husbands or other male relatives. Rape victims are often severely punished while the perpetrators walk free. The Saudi royal family funds Islamic terrorist organizations; 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudis as well. Obama welcomed Saudi King Abdullah to the White House in June, 2010. Saudi Arabia, of course, is awash in oil.
*Equatorial Guinea: This oil-rich West African nation is ruled by the abominable Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. The U.S. State Department cites “torture of detainees by security forces, life-threatening conditions in prisons and arbitrary arrests.” The fantastically corrupt Obiang family lives in lush opulence while 77% of the country’s people live in abject poverty. Obiang “wins” sham elections with 95% or more of the vote. Obiang’s son lives in a 15,000-square-foot Malibu mansion where he throws drug-feuled parties with prostitutes; still, President Obama met the friendly dictator and posed for photos with him at a New York reception.
*Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan and Yemen: President Obama personally granted waivers to these four countries exempting them from the Child Soldiers Prevention Act, permitting them to receive U.S. aid even though they use child soldiers to fight terrorism. Even President Bush, who signed the act, wouldn’t have allowed this. Your tax dollars are also funding child soldiers in Somalia, where it is estimated that 20% of the U.S.-backed government troops are children. Weapons supplied by the United States are being used in combat by Somali children, some as young as nine, as they battle al-Qaeda and other Islamic militants.
*Indonesia: Obama has resumed cooperation with the notorious Kopassus special forces unit that is responsible for horrific human rights abuses, including the kidnapping, torture, rape and murder of East Timorese and Papuan independence advocates, students, labor unionists and human rights advocates.
*Uzbekistan: This former Soviet republic has been ruled by the wicked Islam Karimov since before the collapse of the U.S.S.R.. Like Equatorial Guinea’s Obiang, Karimov holds sham elections which he wins by margins of 90% or more. Uzbek political prisoners are subject to medieval tortures, including being boiled alive. Muslims are arrested and tortured simply for practicing their religion. And in 2005 drunken Uzbek troops massacred hundreds of men, women and children at Andijan. But Uzbekistan provides the U.S. with a northern supply route into Afghanistan, and also sits atop massive natural gas deposits, so the Obama administration has resumed cooperation with the vile Karimov regime.
*Colombia: Billions of dollars in U.S. aid have gone to this country, which is by far the worst human rights violator in the Western Hemisphere. While President Obama points the finger at Hugo Chavez next door in Venezuela, paramilitary death squads and the Colombian military work hand-in-bloody-hand slaughtering both leftist guerrillas and innocent civilians with impunity. Kidnapping, torture, rape and murder have plagued the country for decades. Yet Obama pours hundreds of millions of dollars in aid into the hands of these murderers each year as the U.S. continues its futile 40-year War on Drugs.
*Anti-Castro Cuban Terrorists Living in the U.S.: The late Orlando Bosch, Luis Posada Carriles and scores of other anti-Castro terrorists lived and continue to live as free men, even heroes, in the United States. The two men named above are personally responsible for bombing a civilian airliner over the Caribbean, an act which killed 73 innocent people, a string of hotel bombings in Cuba, the assassination of a Chilean minister and his American aide in Washington, D.C., and many other dastardly acts. Instead of being brought to justice, the city of Miami threw an “Orlando Bosch” day to celebrate this unrepentant terrorist who died a free man in Florida. Posada continues to live in Miami as a hero to countless Cuban-Americans. It is worth noting that Fidel Castro never once retaliated for the hundreds of terror attacks against his country that originated on U.S. soil.
*China: The Chinese government severely restricts freedom of expression, association, movement and religion, with dissidents and others who run afoul of the authorities often subject to arrest, torture and execution. Religious and ethnic minorities, especially Uighurs and Tibetans, face widespread persecution. Yet China is America’s second largest trading partner, and President Obama has welcomed Chinese President Hu Jintao to the White House.
*Israel: This tiny country is a giant when it comes to human rights violations. The occupation, subjugation and humiliation of the Palestinian people by the Jewish state has been internationally condemned by literally hundreds of U.N. resolutions, but the U.S. repeatedly vetoes these and Israel continues to trample on the rights of millions. Illegal settlement building, construction of an apartheid wall, targeted killings of suspected terrorists and periodic invasions of occupied Palestinian territories and neighboring countries are among Israel’s countless human rights violations, with tens of thousands of innocent men, women and children slaughtered by Israeli forces in the Jewish state’s decades-long quest for “security.” Yet despite all this, Israel remains one of America’s closest allies, and despite repeated slaps to the face of the Obama administration, the U.S. continues to flood Israel with around $3 billion in annual military aid. Israel’s leaders, some of whom cut their teeth slaughtering innocent civilians, are also welcomed with open arms in the United States.
This list is by no means complete, but it is indicative of the extraordinary hypocrisy and delusion of Barack Obama. One must not forget the many human rights violations and atrocities committed by the United States itself: the slaughter of tens of thousands of innocent civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and elsewhere, the continued unlawful detention of terrorism suspects in the Guantanamo Bay concentration camp, the torture of War on Terror detainees, the abuse of undocumented immigrants in I.C.E. custody, appalling abuses in our nation’s penal system, and an unjust and racist capital punishment regime– just to name a few.
Obama issuing a directive on mass atrocities is akin to Taliban leader Mullah Omar delivering a proclamation on religious tolerance. While supporters of the President will undoubtedly point to his Directive on Mass Atrocities with pride, citing it as proof of how much he cares about human rights and how so much better than Bush he is when it comes to such things, these folks are just as deluded as Obama himself. For every American President in modern history has the blood of hundreds of thousands of innocents on his hands. Obama is no exception. The Hypocrite-in-Chief is only different in that he’s managed to convince millions of so-called “progressives” that he’s somehow more humane than his predecessor. But if Bush was an iron fist, Obama is an iron fist in a velvet glove. Both will still crush you in the end.
