Illinois Jury Awards Ashley Alford $95 Million for Boss’s “Penis Attacks”

A St. Louis woman was awarded a whopping $95 million last week for numerous sexual crimes committed by her boss.

According to Reuters, Richard Moore, manager of an Aaron’s rent-to-own furniture store in Fairfield Heights, Illinois, whipped out his penis and smacked employee Ashley Alford on her head with it. In a separate incident, Moore threw Alford down on the floor, ripped open her blouse, held her down and masturbated and ejaculated on her chest.

Alford wisely saved the tissue used to remove the semen; it matched Moore’s DNA.

The lawsuit filed also alleges that Moore sexually harrassed Alford and grabbed her by the ponytail while placing his penis on her forehead.

The jury in the case deliberated for three days before awarding the victim $95 million, which is believed to be the largest-ever single sexual harassment award in history. Alford will receive $15 million in compensatory damages and $80 million in punitive damages. However, due to a federal limit of $43 million on harassment claims, Alford’s actual award could be reduced by more than half.

Moore’s harassment began shortly after Alford, then 20 years old, began working at the Fairfield Heights Aaron’s in 2005. David Ratner, her attorney, claimed that male employees initiated a “campaign” of harassment against Alford, with Moore nicknaming her “Trixie” and groping her breasts.

Moore also bought clothes and chocolate for Alford and demanded “sucky-sucky” in exchange for the gifts.

Repeated calls to the company’s sexual harassment hotline went unreturned.

Aaron’s vice president of associate resources, Chad Strickland, issued a statement about the award:

“Aaron’s is extremely disappointed with the jury’s verdict and believes that the award does not accurately reflect the evidence that was presented in this case,” he said, adding that the verdict¬†was “the result of a decision made by a classic runaway jury.”

I had my pants pulled down by my supervisor in the midst of all my co-workers. I was groped daily. I even have a picture of the supervisor doing a sexually explicit act. The supervisor still has his job. Women are still complaining. That was 3 years ago. I have a SPECIFIC, not general right to sue stating sexual harassment was egregious in the workplace and the employer failed to do anything. Go to trial Jan 14, 2013. Losing my house on Monday! Trying to find help for my family! (Stresss full sigh….)
