Fox News Uses Tina Fey Photo in Report on Sarah Palin
Fox News strikes again. This time, the right-wing faux-news network mistakenly used a photo of actress Tina Fey, famous for her side-splitting impersonation of Sarah Palin, in a report about the former Alaska governor’s indecision regarding the 2012 presidential race. Fey was imitating Palin in the misused photo.
Not only is Palin one of the most recognizable faces in American politics today, she is also a frequent Fox News contributor; a paid employee of the Fox News Channel.
Fox says it “regrets” the error. “A graphic error was made,” David Clark, Fox News weekend programming executive director, told TV Newser. “The producer has since been disciplined and an explanation and apology will be made in the same hour next Sunday. Fox News regrets the error.”
According to Raw Story, Fox has been cracking down on such mistakes lately, declaring a “zero tolerance” policy in 2009. An internal memo to employees explained the network’s position:
“Effective immediately, there is zero tolerance for on-screen errors. Mistakes by any member of the show team that end up on air may result in immediate disciplinary action against those who played significant roles in the ‘mistake chain,’ and those who supervise them. That may include warning letters to personnel files, suspensions, and other possible actions up to and including termination, and this will all obviously play a role in performance reviews.”
Those new rules aren’t working out so well… From confusing ‘Obama’ with ‘Osama’ to pie charts where the numbers add up to more than 100%, errors at Fox– whether intentional or not– are more common than Seattle showers. This is but the latest in a long line of sub-par “journalism” from “America’s most trusted news source.”
