‘Douche du Jour’: Man Beheads British Woman in Spanish Supermarket
In what appears to be a random attack, a man killed and beheaded a British woman in a supermarket on the Spanish island of Tenerife. According to the Guardian, the killer, a 28-year-old homeless Bulgarian with a criminal record, attacked the 60-year-old woman with a knife, stabbing her to death before beheading her and running out into the street with her severed head in his hands.
The murder occurred in Los Cristianos, an area populated by many British expatriates.
Tenerife Magazine reporter Colin Kirby witnessed the immediate aftermath of the murder. “I didn’t see the attack but I saw the guy,” he told the Guardian. “I heard people shouting and screaming and making a commotion. A Hispanic-looking guy, very scruffy, was walking behind me muttering to himself, carrying what I thought was a joke head by the hair, with blood… I thought… it’s a joke.”
“Security guards rushed form the shop where he’d been, chased him across the road and by this time he was pinned to the floor… the security and the police had to hold people off– they were queueing up– they were trying basically to kick the hell out of this guy.”
Another witness told a local radio station that she saw the man flee the shop with the victim’s head in his hands.
“I parked my car and saw a man running out with something bloody in his hands and a security guard chasing him. He threw it to the ground. It almost hit me.”
