‘Douche du Jour’: Florida High School Honor Student Pistol-Whips Mom, Forces her to Buy Car at Gunpoint

Seventeen-year-old Rachel Anne Hachero seemed to have everything going for her. A senior at the exclusive Canterbury School in Fort Myers Florida, she was an honor student and track star who had been accepted into several Ivy League schools on scholarship. But according to WPTV NBC 5 in West Palm Beach, Hachero’s future is now uncertain because of a shocking act allegedly committed against her own mother.

Hachero was arrested by Lee County deputies after being accused of pistol-whipping her mother and forcing her to co-sign a car loan at gunpoint. The teenager is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, unlawful possession of a firearm by a person younger than 18, and battery.

It all began last Thursday evening when Hachero called her mother and asked her to co-sign her car loan. When she refused, Hachero threatened to kill her. She pistol-whipped her mother in the head with a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun before pointing the gun at her head and stomach, demanding she accompany her to the car dealership. With the gun in her purse, Hachero forced her mother to sign for the black 2004 Nissan 350Z. The car was hers– for the moment.

The unidentified mother told police she was too afraid to contact them right away. She waited until Rachel left for school the next day, then she searched her purse. Not only did she find the gun, which turned out to be stolen from a Lee County Port Authority worker’s home last summer, she also discovered drugs and paraphernalia.

Hachero’s mother decided she didn’t want to press charges against her daughter for fear of damaging her college prospects. Deputies arrested Rachel anyway; she’s now locked up in the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center.
