‘Douche du Jour’: N.Y. Cancer Quack who Robbed & Raped Patients Held on $33 Million Bond

Michail Sorodsky, a 63-year-old cancer “healer” who bilked his patients out of large sums of money and sexually assaulted some of them while they were sedated, is being held by New York authorities on $11 million bail or $33 million bond, the highest amount in state history, according to the New York Daily News. Sorodsky charged his patients, mostly female Russian immigrants in Brooklyn, up to $1,000 per visit for ineffective “treatments” that included rubbing probiotic yogurt on and into their genitals. The quack, who is not licensed to practice medicine, billed himself as a holistic therapist, but as far as anyone knows nobody was ever cured of their cancer by his highly unorthodox remedies.

It gets worse. Not only did Sorodsky not cure his patients’ cancer, he also sexually molested many of them and raped at least one sedated woman, prosecutors say. He is now facing 102 counts ranging from rape to fraud.

Sorodsky was defiant at his court hearing. “It is inquisition,” he shouted in broken English. “I am somebody, pioneer. I am a scientist.” He is currently on his 13th lawyer. His defense will argue that he never claimed to be a doctor and that his patients returned to him even after the alleged sexual abuse occurred.
