NYPD Cops Shown Virulently Anti-Muslim Film as Part of Anti-Terror Training
The New York Police Department repeatedly screened a virulently anti-Muslim film as part of officers’ mandatory anti-terrorism training and then lied about showing it when news of the screening went public.
The film, The Third Jihad, is described by the Village Voice as “72 minutes of gruesome footage of bombing carnage, frenzied crowds, burning American flags, flaming churches, and seething mullahs.” It emphasizes that most Muslims are extremists, bent on a complete takeover of the United States as the culmination of their 1,400 year quest for global domination.
“Americans are being told that most of the mainstream Muslim groups are moderate,” the narrator, a “reformed” Muslim says, “when in fact if you look a little closer you’ll see a very different reality. One of their primary tactics is deception.”
Said one NYPD officer after seeing the film: “After it was over, I was thinking, ‘What was that?’ It was so ridiculously one-sided. It just made Muslims look like the enemy. It was straight propaganda.” Police officials eventually agreed, with deputy commissioner Paul Browne admitting it should never have been shown. But Browne also lied and said officers had never viewed the film, before changing his story and telling the Village Voice that “it’s not shown for any purpose now.”
Zead Ramadan, president of the New York board of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), says the group received a complaint about the film from one NYPD cadet. Ramadan discussed the matter with police commissioner Ray Kelly, who claimed he knew nothing about the screening.
Kelly appears in the film, although the Village Voice points out that he seems to be included just so the filmmakers can claim added legitimacy. Former mayor and 9/11 political opportunist Rudy Giuliani, however, was an enthusiastic participant in the project and even offered his endorsement of the dishonest and despicable film.
