Marijuana for Food Swap Raises Over Five Tons of Food for Needy Californians

A very unique food drive in California has raised over 11,000 pounds of food for the hungry. The Granny Purps medical marijuana dispensary in Soquel, near Santa Cruz, offered a free joint for every four cans of food that medical marijuana patients donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Granny Purps handed out around 2,000 joints during the drive. “This kind of promotion… you don’t even know how many people it’s helped out,” one female patient told San Francisco’s KTVU. “It’s helped people who are hungry, and it’s helped people like me who need medication.”
