Assange Lost Tooth, was Jailed with Child Killers; Receives Death Threats from US Troops
Wikileaks founder Julian Assange says he was imprisoned in a wing housing people who “have been convicted of sexual offenses, child killers.” “There were crazy pedophiles who shouted all night about their crimes,” Assange told the Spanish newspaper El Pais. “You heard these cries all night.” He also claims to have lost a tooth while in British custody when he bit into something metal in his food. He doesn’t know whether or not the foreign object was placed there intentionally. He joked that he would sell the tooth on eBay but it seems to have gone missing. Assange says he wrapped it in paper and placed it in his cell, but it disappeared. “I suppose [it was taken] because they didn’t want any kind of evidence that such an episode had occurred,” he mused.
Assange says that when he was released, London police were so concerned for his safety that they cut short a press conference on the courthouse steps after just four minutes. “I receive death threats all the time,” he said. “My lawyer receives them, my [20-year-old] son [Daniel] receives them. … Most of them seem to come from members of the United States armed forces.”
While Assange is currently in London fighting extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for sex crimes, his spirits seem high. He says he’s not done leaking sensitive information and has enough dirt on a major American bank to force the CEO to resign. Many believe the bank in question is Bank of America, which cut off payments to Wikileaks last week. May they soon regret their decision.
