Alan Grayson Explains Why Fox News Supports Bush Tax Cut Extension
Outgoing Florida Democrat Congressman Alan Grayson used his time on the House floor to lambaste Fox News hosts and leading Republican luminaries for their ardent support for extending Bush-era tax cuts that most benefit the wealthiest Americans. These TV pundits all fall into that top tax bracket and stand to lose millions if the tax cuts are allowed to expire. Here are some of their earnings, followed by how much they stand to lose if the tax cuts are axed:
Glenn Beck: $33 million earned; $2.7 million saved
Sean Hannity: $22 million earned; $1.5 million saved
Bill O’Reilly: $20 million earned; $900K saved
Sarah Palin: $14 million earned; $600K saved
Fox News chairman Roger Ailes also made about $14 million. But all of these big earners pale in comparison to Rush Limbaugh. The king of hate radio raked in an astounding $58.7 million, of which $2.7 million was saved by Bush’s tax cuts. It’s no wonder that these right-wing media personalities all support extending them indefinitely. But Moral Low Ground believes Congressman Grayson has a much better idea what to do with those tax cuts: let them expire and use the proceeds to fund the creation of 3,000,000 blue-collar jobs paying a modest but honest $30,000/year. “Instead of placating these people [Fox News] and letting them spew out onto the airwaves their lies about the Bush tax cut [without] ever revealing the fact that they stand to gain millions… each year from their selfish desire to take advantage of the rest of America… let’s take that money and create jobs,” he said. We couldn’t agree more.

So increasing taxes will create jobs? I didn’t know that…. With that in mind, we should increase taxes on everyone and then there will be no more unemployment. Thank you Congressman Grayson and Moral Low Ground for enlightening me.
