O’Reilly, Huckabee Want Wikileakers Executed; Palin Says “Hunt Assange Like a Terrorist”

Killing innocent children is okay. Telling the world about it is not.

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly called for the execution of whoever is responsible for the massive leak of classified US government documents to the whistleblower website Wikileaks.

“Whoever leaked those State Department documents is a traitor and should be executed—or put in prison for life,” the host of the popular O’Reilly Factor said yesterday.

O’Reilly called Wikileaks a “despicable website” and its founder, Julian Assange, a “sleazeball.” He also lamented what he perceived to be President Obama’s lack of outrage over the whole affair.

Meanwhile, Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, 2008 GOP presidential candidate and current Fox News host also said heads should roll over the Wikileaks release.

“Whoever in our government leaked that information is guilty of treason,” he said at the Ronald Reagan presidential library in Simi Valley, California today. “I think anything less than execution is too kind a penalty.”

Since Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is not a US citizen and did not commit any crimes on American soil, he cannot be executed. But that hasn’t stopped some right-wing commentators from calling for his head. John Hawkins of Townhall.com says the CIA should have already assassinated Assange. And former Alaska governor, 2008 vice presidential candidate and reality TV star Sarah Palin says Assange should be hunted down like an al-Qeada terrorist because “he is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands.”

Really? What about the blood on the hands of the United States in Iraq, Afghanistan and in every other country it has ever bombed, invaded, occupied or otherwise terrorized? Surely history will judge American imperialism to be a far greater offense than anything Wikileaks will ever divulge.

I totally agree! What about the crimes of the governement?! They do have way too much blood on their hands. Just like a lot of other governements.
Henry David Thoreau once wrote: “If the machine of government is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law.”
And I think he is damn right.
